Alexis Sanchez must leave Arsenal to win the Champions League, says Zamorano

The Gunners forward has been advised by his fellow Chilean to quit Emirates Stadium and go in search of the biggest honours in football elsewhere
Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez will not win the Champions League at Arsenal and would “be more useful in a bigger team”, says Ivan Zamorano.
The Chile international continues to see his future called into question as he enters the final 12 months of his contract at Emirates Stadium.

He recently admitted while on Confederations Cup duty that he is “clear” on what his next move will be, but has refused to divulge whether that will be signing a new deal or making a move.
Zamorano believes his countryman should be looking to take on a new challenge, amid talk of interest from the likes of Manchester City and Bayern Munich, with Arsenal unable to match his ambition.
The legendary former striker told SFR Sport: "I think Alexis knows very well what he has to do.

“He's a guy who has goals and ambitions, they're fundamental to making a choice. I think he likes to win.
"What he wants, above all, is to win the Champions League, and I don't think he'll have that possibility at Arsenal.

"He must know that he will be more useful in a bigger team. But it's his decision, his personal choice. Whatever happens, Alexis will be at the level he deserves to be and which he must achieve."
Sanchez has spent three seasons at Arsenal, having completed a £31.7 million move from Barcelona in 2014, and has made 145 appearances for the club.
He has found the target 72 times in those outings, with the 2016-17 campaign seeing him reach the 30-goal mark for the first time in his caree

'Defoe part of dying breed as Lukaku more fashionable' - Owen sees change in striker circles

The former Liverpool, Real Madrid and Manchester United forward thinks that Bournemouth’s newest recruit has bucked the trend in the modern market

Michael Owen thinks that most teams are looking for tall, powerful strikers, with Bournemouth new boy Jermain Defoe the last in-demand striker to have similarities with himself.
The former Ballon d’Or winner took world football by storm in the early 2000s with his starring performances for England and Liverpool, with his goals ultimately earning him a move to join David Beckham at Real Madrid.

Owen is now a football expert for BT Sport and thinks that his playing style is falling out of fashion, with managers nowadays preferring players like Romelu Lukaku to Defoe.
“I was unique in that I was small and lightening fast,” Owen told Goal. “Abnormally so for someone of my height. Nowadays you don’t get many strikers of my size.
“[Antoine] Griezmann is one exception but normally the teams all play one big striker. You’re not really getting as many small strikers. Jermaine Defoe is one like me but they are a dying breed, the type I was.

“I do think they will come back into fashion eventually. I think that when you go to three at the back, you can get two strikers on the pitch and that might be the next fashionable system.
“We might be getting two strikers again. It is certainly starting to be more three at the back. I just think that the last generation in the last 15 years, we went back to big number 9s who could do everything.
“Like Didier Drogba and now Romelu Lukaku types and players like that. That’s what has become fashionable.”

John Terry signs for Aston Villa

The Chelsea defender will confirm his move to Villa Park in the coming hours, after owner Dr. Tony Xia announced the deal on Twitter
John Terry has joined Aston Villa on a free transfer, the club's owner, Dr. Tony Xia, has confirmed on Twitter.

The former Chelsea defender called time on his 21-year association with the Stamford Bridge club this summer when his contract expired.
Terry made 690 appearances in total for Chelsea, scoring 65 goals, as he won five Premier League titles, five FA Cups, three League Cups, the Champions League and the Europa League.
However, he is now set to move down a division in search of even more silverware, with Xia confirming that a deal will be officially announced imminently.
"Welcome JT to Birmingham city... Aston Villa. Announcement shortly," Xia wrote on Monday.

Reports suggest that Terry will sign a one-year deal at Villa Park, with a bonus of around £4 million if they are promoted to the Premier League.
Terry is said to have rejected proposals from Galatasaray, West Brom, Swansea and a number of other clubs from across the globe.
Thus, his signing for Villa will represent  something of a coup for Villa boss Steve Bruce

Manchester United unveil new 2017-18 home kit

Jose Mourinho's men have revealed what they will be wearing in the coming season and on their pre-season tour of the United States
Manchester United have officially unveiled their kit for the upcoming 2017-18 season.

The kit launch, headed by Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard and new signing Victor Lindelof, came on Monday morning, with United posting a tweet to their official account.

The new shirt features a button-up collar, three stripes - representing Adidas - on the shoulders, as well as white and black on the sleeves to pay homage to the colours of flags at Old Trafford on match days.

United boast on their website: "The latest home shirt features a minimalist, sophisticated design which pays homage to some of the classic kits from the past, at the same time as being at the forefront of technical sportswear design with technical, breathable fabrics and mesh engineering."
United will wear the kit for the first time during their pre-season tour of America, with Jose Mourinho's men set to face LA Galaxy, Real Salt Lake, Manchester City and Real Madrid overseas.

Vidal defends Diaz's Confederations Cup final error

The Chile midfielder spoke up after his team-mate's decisive Confederations Cup final error
Chile midfielder Arturo Vidal refused to peg any blame on Marcelo Diaz after his first-half error gifted Germany a 1-0 Confederations Cup final win in St Petersburg.

The Copa America holders, chasing a third title in as many years, started and finished the contest in the ascendancy but were unable to break down a Germany side who displayed grit and composure beyond their years.
Lars Stindl's winner came heavily against the run of play in the 20th minute, shortly after Alexis Sanchez failed to convert a rebound when Marc-Andre ter Stegen parried a rasping Vidal drive.
Under little pressure, Diaz turned into trouble and allowed Timo Werner to lay on a tap-in for the Borussia Monchengladbach attacker.
"There are mistakes that can happen, but there is nothing to reproach," Vidal told reporters at Krestovsky Stadium. "I think this team is a family and when we win, all of us win."
Vidal bullishly told a pre-match news conference that victory in the final would have established Chile as the best team on the planet.
Falling short of that goal did little to dent the Bayern Munich man's confidence in a close-knit group, with World Cup glory in 12 months' time still the ultimate goal.

"If we won, yes [we are the best team in the world]," he said. "But now, there are many other teams on a great level. We will keep working to be one of the best”.
"I think that our team can leave with our heads held high for the way we have played.
"In every single game, we were looking for the victory. And we played nice football. There is still a lot to come and hopefully we will come next year to fight for the World Cup
"There is nothing to reproach because we fought since the first day. We leave happy to have reached another final and hopefully we keep the same hunger than now.”

Vidal added: "It is an incredible generation. We hope we go through the qualifiers, play the World Cup and reach the final as we did in this cup."
There was a tense moment for Bayern fans during the second half.
As the match threatened to boil over, Vidal and club team-mate Joshua Kimmich were involved in an altercation that saw both men booked.
"I was a bit angry," Vidal explained. "I didn't like what he was doing with his team-mates. They were winning and they were wasting time.
"I was annoyed but we are team-mates and I will see him in 20 days."

Low lauds Germany: 'This victory will go down in history'

It will go down in history. Joachim Low lauded Germany for their Confederations Cup success.
Germany coach Joachim Low said his youthful Confederations Cup squad would go down in history after their triumph in Russia.

A first-half goal from Lars Stindl saw Low's men to a 1-0 win over Chile in Sunday's final, giving the proud nation their first Confederations Cup crown.
Low said the achievement, secured without many of Germany's first-choice stars, would never be forgotten.
"It is worth a lot, because Germany has never won this trophy in our history," he told a news conference.
"So this team and this victory will go down in history. The team absolutely deserved it and that's why we're all super happy."It's heavier than the World Cup."

Joshua Kimmich was similarly delighted, saying Germany had proved their doubters wrong in Russia.
"Myself and the team are all extremely proud of the title. Nobody really counted on us and we were able to beat great nations," the Bayern Munich midfielder said.
"You could see how much it meant to the Chileans as they were so sad in the end.
"We've had the better ending and it is amazing to get the cup with this squad. We will party hard."

Navas ready to 'fight to the death' against potential Madrid arrivals

The goalkeeper is determined to battle it out for the No.1 spot for the Champions League winners
Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas is determined to retain his position at the Spanish and European champions amid speculation in the transfer market.
Navas helped Madrid to La Liga and Champions League glory in 2016-17 but Zinedine Zidane's men have still been linked with Gianluigi Donnarumma, David de Gea and Thibaut Courtois.
Navas, however, is determined to battle it out for the No.1 spot at the Santiago Bernabeu.
"I will fight to the death against whoever [arrives]," the Costa Rica international told Marca.

Navas was Madrid's undisputed No.1 during their run to a first La Liga title since 2012 and back-to-back Champions League crowns last season.
The 30-year-old made 27 La Liga appearances and 12 in the Champions League.
"I don't have the words to express my gratitude to Zidane," Navas said.
Navas arrived from fellow Spanish side Levante in 2014, and he has gone on to win La Liga, two Champions League trophies, the UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup.

Man Utd star Rashford hangs out with Beckham Jr and shows off other football skills

The Red Devils striker has been chilling with the New York Giants ace and looking to prove that he is as good with his hands as he is with his feet
Marcus Rashford has been auditioning for a quarterback role at Manchester United after meeting up with NFL superstar Odell Beckham Jr.
The England international has often been tasked with being more of a creative force for the Red Devils than an out-and-out goalscore
He has adapted his game to meet the demands of that role, and has now been showing that his skill set can be transferred to any kind of football.
The 19-year-old forward, who has already met up with Ronaldinho in recent weeks, has been hanging out with New York Giants wide receiver Beckham Jr while in America.

Eager to prove that he is as good with his hands as he is with his feet, Rashford took in a spot of passing practice with Beckham Jr.

Rashford is to be joined by his United colleagues in the States over the next few weeks, as Jose Mourinho’s side step up their pre-season preparations.

They are due to face the LA Galaxy and Real Salt Lake before taking in International Champions Cup clashes with Manchester City, Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Fenerbahce have no plans to pip Man City to Dani Alves

The Turkish giants insist they have made no effort to land the Brazilian defender and scupper a proposed move to the Premier League for the defender
Fenerbahce have denied reports suggesting that they are interested in signing Brazil international Dani Alves.
Alves, 34, is being heavily linked with a move to Manchester City after being released by Serie A champions Juventus.
But reports on Sunday claimed that the Brazilian could be heading to Turkish giants Fenerbahce.
However, the 19-time Super Lig champions have rubbished the reports, saying they hold no interest in Alves.
"There is news in some of the newspapers today that our club are interested in Dani Alves," a statement read.
"There is no interest from our club with the player. We advise fans that this lie is an unfounded report."

Alves made 32 appearances in all competitions for Juve in 2016-17, helping the club win Serie A and the Coppa Italia.
His expected move to City would see him reunite with former Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola.
